Fantasy, reality and chronicle?there are many requests that the artist Sérgio Longo has for news of missions, launches, travels through space. Creating structures in the composition, his lunar landscapes are dreamy, rich in tones and justified between reality and unreality.

Faithful to the chronicle of ?missions to the moon? or ?missions to space?, its chromaticism shows a refined taste, in which the dream becomes reality and reality, a dream. Fantasy, in turn, runs in pleasantly cold and sometimes lively ?spatial? tones with significant encounters and mismatches of lines, forces and worlds.

Sérgio Longo’s compositions are like a game between the objectivity of the quotation and the conventional language of drawing or painting and lead the artist to reconstruct the mental unity of form.

In the work ?A Dança das Horas?, donated to the collection of the Museum of Art of the Parliament and São Paulo, Sérgio Longo shows, in a metaphysical way, the relationship between art and the technological structures that are offered to us today and that began between the first and the second world war through a scientific and didactic utopianism.

Der Künstler

Sérgio Longo was born in São Paulo in 1946. He grew up in Mauá where he took his first steps in the visual arts. Self-taught, he was influenced by great São Paulo masters and his older brother, potter and ceramist, but mainly by the artists of the European movement of the 1950s, called ?lyrical abstraction?.

Von den Meistern Carpentiere und Aldo Cardarelli ermutigt, begann er, sich der Malerei auf objektivere Weise zu widmen. Gleichzeitig begann er seine Tätigkeit als Professor und unterrichtete Kurse in akademischer Kunst sowie Studien zur Restaurierung und Identifizierung von Kunstwerken.

Currently, his work as a teacher focuses on giving lectures and workshops, transmitting his professional experience and the concepts based on his book ?The Artistic Wisdom?.

His works can be found in several private and official collections, such as at the Rebouças Convention Center and notably at the São Paulo Parliament Art Museum.
